Sometimes it's hard to know what to study, especially when you're self-learning a language. So, I've planned out some Korean study activities for you to do each day this week. So grab a pen and paper or complete the challenges in the comments below!
Monday
Let's start the week by learning the chorus of BTS' Blood Sweat and Tears. Use Naver Dictionary to help you. It's okay if you don't 100% understand all the vocabulary and grammar - just try to say the words!
Extended challenge: Try to learn the whole song ~
Tuesday
Post an Instagram story in Korean! (I would love to see it! Tag me @rachlearnskorean).
Extended challenge: Create a whole new Instagram account where you post ONLY in Korean ~
Wednesday
Feeling up for a challenge? Count backwards from 10 in Korean (in both pure and sino Korean numbers)!
Extended challenge: Write the numbers backwards from 20 as well (in both number sets!) ~
Thursday
Write a self-introduction (name, age, nationality, occupation & why you learn Korean). Having a go to way to introduce yourself in Korean will always come in handy!
Extended challenge: Record yourself saying your self-introduction aloud. Extra points if you memorise it instead of reading it! ~
Friday
Learn this Korean expression: 입에 맞아요.
Meaning: [food item] fits my taste. E.g. 케이크는 입에 맞아요.
Try writing 5 sentences using this expression then say them aloud. Can you say the negative as well?
Extended challenge: Write a mini conversation using this expression ~
Saturday
In Australia we often ask each other about our horoscopes, but in Korea they ask each other about their blood type! Click here to see what your blood type says about you. Can you find some Korean adjectives to describe yourself according to your blood type? Feel free to use Naver Dictionary to help you.
Extended challenge: Add these adjectives into your self-introduction that you wrote on Thursday ~
Sunday
Chill out and watch a K-drama - I recommend What's Wrong with Secretary Kim!
Extended challenge: Write down 10 words or expressions you understood from the episode ~
Conclusion
How did you go with these daily language challenges? Remember, the key to language learning is consistency. Even just 10 minutes a day can make a big difference! Keep going, you've got this.
Feel free to complete the challenges in the comments below ~
